Continued strong growth independently possible with Plus loan
Tessenderlo - Hasselt, 25 January 2011. LRM is investing 500,000 Euros in the waste disposal firm Containers Maes, which has shown strong growth trends. Within a few years, the company has evolved from a container rental firm into an important handler of predominantly construction and demolition waste. Maes wants to continue its independent growth curve and has asked LRM for a PLUS loan.
Strong growth in a traditional sector
In 2001, Yves Maes started a one-man business recycling silt waste. The company grew quickly and evolved – by taking over the container activities of other companies in the sector – into a business specialized in the rental of containers, ground work and demolition and sorting and recycling construction waste.
Maes distinguishes itself through its advanced sorting and recycling system of construction and demolition waste collected, aimed at minimizing the impact on the environment. Recycled waste is re-used as base material. Any remaining waste becomes a source for energy.
Over 10 years, Containers Maes has become a company with a turnover of 8 million Euros and 17 employees. At present, Containers Maes owns approximately 800 containers of various sizes and 9 trucks with hook-arm systems and trailers.
Independently continue growth curve
Growth means more investment, more automation and more credit to customers. In short: growth costs money.
To continue its growth curve, Containers Maes is using the investment opportunities offered by LRM. Yves Maes wants to expand the company in an autonomous way. That is why he applied for a 500,000 Euro PLUS loan from LRM.
‘The LRM investment will allow us to continue growing and to grow more quickly. The Plus loan is also seen as additional capital by the banks, which makes them more prepared to provide us with extra credit’ explained Yves Maes, business manager of Containers Maes.
PLUS loan
To lower the threshold for risk capital, LRM launched the PLUS loan for smaller, family SMEs. This subordinate loan is free of all types of guarantees. The LRM PLUS loan has a duration of 7 years and is seen by bankers as additional quasi capital, which creates leverage for more financing by the bank.
Stijn Bijnens, general director of LRM: ‘LRM is specialized in investing in SMEs. With our PLUS loan, we make risk capital accessible to small businesses. The PLUS loan is also very suitable for financing family businesses. With the PLUS loan, they can profit from the advantages of risk capital and realize their ambitions without having to introduce a third party.’
