Limburg Auto Group Bruyninx acquired
Hasselt-based car group Bruyninx was acquired by the Antwerp holding company Alcopa.
The Bruyninx Group was owned by ING Belgium (43.49%), LRM (33.62%), and the Bruyninx family (20.69%). With sales of 117 million euros and 220 employees, Bruyninx is one of the largest distributors of cars in Belgium. Bruyninx is a distributor of such brands as Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat, Opel, Lancia, and Fiat Professional (commercial vehicles). More recently, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge ware added.
The Antwerp-based Alcopa holding company is owned by the Moorkens family of entrepreneurs. Along with many other activities, the Moorkens family has operated as a car importer for a number of years. Their Alcopa holding company today distributes several major brands like Ford, Opel, Toyota, and Nissan, and it also owns a number of dealerships of the Volkswagen Group.
